Hello. For those of you I haven't met, my name is AZ. This is Bulbasaur. Some of you may have new Pokemon with you, from when the eggs hatched. I thought I would explain Pokemon to those of you who don't know. Pokemon are creatures that inhabited my world. They can be split into eighteen or so types, with different elemental weaknesses and strengths. They are intelligent beings that require a great deal of care and affection. Many of them battle with each other in order to evolve and grow stronger - but some of them prefer not to battle. If your Pokemon does not want to battle, please do not force it to do so.

As for evolution... many Pokemon change forms. The most common way is when they gain enough experience in battle, but some evolve when they make strong bonds with their Trainers, or when they're exposed to various stones. Trainers are those who take care of Pokemon, though there's many ways to do so.

And as for what they eat - I have arranged with Ozuma to have Pokechow appear in the kitchen. It has the nutrients your Pokemon require. Some of them can gain nutrients in other ways, like Bulbasaur here - he can convert sunlight into nutrients. The Daycare also has berries that can be given to your Pokemon to eat raw, or they can be made into Pokepuffs or Poffins. ... Please do not try to eat the berries yourself. They can have... unpleasant side effects for humans.

Okay, so uh... I've been having kind of a problem with mine. She's been pretty good during the day-- she seems to like me well enough, anyway-- but at night... she cries. Like, every night. At first I thought it was, like... cholic or something-- that's a thing babies get, right? The hell do I know about kids, y'know? [A nervous laugh.] But that's the only time she cries. Otherwise she just tugs at my pant leg or talks at me if she wants somethin'. Or gives me a little headbutt, if I'm takin' too long to pay attention to her.

I've... well. [Another laugh. It sounds more embarrassed than nervous this time.] I've been taking to... singin' to her at night, y'know? Just out of desperation or something. Sometimes that helps, a little-- I mean, she stops and falls asleep after a while, plus she sleeps with me now and that seems to help too, but...

Is this gonna be a thing with her? The crying every night? Because I'm kinda at my wits end here. I mean, it doesn't sound like normal baby crying. She sounds really upset. Startin' to wonder if it's something I'm doing wrong or somethin'.

What does she look like? It might help if I knew what sort of Pokemon she is.

[Oh, Wade would be able to tell you that one straight out. He doesn't know much about Pokemon, but he knows enough from pop culture osmosis to know that they usually just say their names for some weirdly illogical reason.]

She's a Cubone. Why? Izzat normal for them?

... Ah. Yes, unfortunately. It wears the skull of... well, supposedly it's its dead mother. When it becomes lonesome, it cries, especially at the full moon.

As for why it hatches while wearing the skull of its mother, or why the mother can continue having eggs afterwards... I'm not sure. Perhaps it's just the skull of some other Pokemon, or a naturally-occurring growth.

Are all Cubones like that? Wearin' the skulls of their dead moms, I mean?

That's... that's really fucked up.

[Guess he's going with the former on this one. He's got Freudian excuses of his own, after all.]

So uh... what should I do about it? To like... help her through this, I guess?

... Make sure she knows she's wanted and supported. She's a Ground-type so wrapping her up might help. I can send one of my Pokemon over to talk to her if you think that might work.

No, that's okay. I mean, I'm the one that hatched her-- this is something we gotta work through together, right?

You might be able to help me out a little, though. Is there anything that she might like? Like, as a gift or a toy or something.

We have some berries at the Daycare. Most Pokemon like at least a few of those flavors.

I guess it's too much to ask that you know the kind of flavor her kind likes, huh. Probably differs from one Cubone to the next, right?

It does. But you can have her try a few and see which she likes best?
