First off, I'm sorry for avoiding everyone. I kinda socialed myself out with the masquerade and I'm not used to it, so I hid for awhile. [ Soul looks apologetic as he appears on the network with this statement, running his hand through his bangs and trying to smile. Mostly he just looks supremely embarrassed. Not by what he's said but what he's about to say. ]

So uh, I have to ask for some advice.

[ He pauses and takes a deep breath as his cheeks flush. ]

What do you do when you have a big old crush on someone? Do you tell them your real feelings or only spill it a little? Do you do it at all if you've been avoiding them and they're kind of upset about it? I'm sort of tired of avoiding them more than anyone, and feel like the only answer is to say something so I can't anymore.

But I really don't want to. Is there any way I can avoid this? I'm really not sure about it because I've never... liked another guy before, and I don't know how to handle it with a guy. I barely know how to handle it with a chick.

I don't want to lose this friend if they get pissed off about it. Things could stay the same and I'd be okay. I'm used to not getting what I want.

[ He pauses. That's kind of a shitty thing to say and he didn't mean to. ]

Uh, forget that last statement, please.

[He'd rather sooner than later, but he should blow off some steam before playing with someone who could get hurt. Soul isn't a bear.]

[ Soul shuts off the video so he can head there quickly. ]

I can go now.

[ Soul would rather get this over with. So he shuts down the video and heads on over, looking hella stressed when he walks into the gym. ]

[Fubuki has a couple of soccer balls lying around the room now, and he's dribbling up and down the court. A basketball court is as close to a soccer field as he's going to get. There are some conspicuous puddles of water around the sides of the room, and shards of ice everywhere.

Atsuya's been busy.]

You better know how to play. [He remembers basketball in Soul's head.]

Who in the world would mean for something like that to be overheard?

[This is...way more than she ever wanted to know about Soul.]

[She's not gonna let it go any time soon.]

Kind of. God, you really set up a minefield, didn't you?

[ Soul makes sure to step over a few puddles over by the door rather than slip in them, though he has a feeling he's going to actually slip later. That's gonna suck, but he put himself in this situation, and he better deal with it now. ]

I'll be right over there.

[ Soul cuts off the video and heads over quick. ]

[If it helps, he looks more together than he did over the phone. Playing on dangerous terrain isn't usually part of his soccer - but, being from Hokkaido, Fubuki is more than used to running on ice and snow.]

Scared? [This wouldn't be hard for any soccer player near Fubuki's level to navigate... Geez, it's been forever since he's played against a rookie.] Soccer's easy, just don't use your hands.

[Besides, it's not like they have a referee.]

I ain't scared of this. [ Soul puffs out his chest a little and makes a determined face. ] I'm only scared you're going to stop being my friend.

[ He pauses. ]

Let's make a deal.

[Stupid Soul. Friendship isn't a thing that just stops. It gets under your skin and you carry it with you.

But that last part catches him by surprise.] A deal? What kind?

If you win, I'll tell you why I kept avoiding you.

[ Soul fully expects Fubuki to win. This is why he's saying that. He wants to lock himself into something where he can't back out. ]

[Not much of a deal when Fubuki is going to win. It's something he wants to know, but - Soul has to know there's no way he's beating him. Like this there are no stakes, no challenge. The hell?

He scowls.] You'd better be planning to take this seriously...

[ Soul looks at that scowl on Fubuki's face and decides he better not throw the game. ]

I will. This is important to you.

[If he's not putting his all in, Fubuki will know. Or, at least, he will if this works properly. He tries to think of how it went when he first connected to Someoka - the first Wyvern Blizzard. It doesn't often happen with an opponent, but...]

Good. Let's go. [He flips a coin.] Heads or tails?

Tails.

[ Soul feels a little nervous about this suddenly, though he's not sure why; he knows soccer is super important and he's never played it with Fubuki before. If he fucks up, what will that fuck up in return? ]

[He uncovers the coin. It's tails. He gives Soul a ball.]

You start. The goals are there, and there. That one's yours and this one is mine. [He points to some reasonable markings on either end of the court.] Good luck.

Okay.

[ Soul eyes the puddles and the ice and learns where they are, mapping the room quickly in his head. As long as nothing moves, he'll do okay avoiding obstacles. Of course, he knows that Fubuki is good at changing things up, so he can't really prepare until they start - so he just goes for it, setting the ball down and going with it towards the other goal. He hasn't played since he was twelve but that's only three years ago. ]

[And here, Soul will learn one of the things that makes Fubuki an extremely skilled player: he's fast. Incredibly fast, like the wind. It's a speed he's built up in harsh weather and accustomed himself to through snowboarding. Soul will have a difficult time keeping Fubuki from being in front of him.

He's not stealing yet. He could, easily, but he wants to see what Soul can do, first.]

[ Soul may not be as fast as everyone else - something he learned when Giroko fucked him the hell up - but he's pretty good at reacting anyway. He backsteps and kicks the ball off to intentionally land it behind some ice, so that it's harder to steal. He has the strength to kick it through the ice, but does Fubuki? It's a little test of his own. ]
