[Video — Both Accidental and Not]
[Backdated to March 2, early afternoon.]
—n't be right. [A mumbled voice, scarcely heard. A flash of... Something red, it's hard to tell.] Wasn't it thi—?
[The video blinks out as soon as it started, nothing but a static feed. It stays like that, too, for a good 12 minutes: a video entry to the network of absolutely no substance.]
[—until unexpectedly it turns on again! Rin's face is visible in the frame this time, too close and blurry. Her head bobs away slowly, seemingly looking at something on her phone but not directly into the camera.]
Steady. Steadyyyy... Just like that— [The angle slides and loses her, topples towards a stone surface.] Ah!
[Thunk, crack! The feed cuts again, whoops.]
Hi, hi. Rin Tohsaka here.
[Third time's the charm? Framed perfectly in the shot and wearing a yellow apron, Rin stands behind a countertop in the kitchen. Hands on her hips, she beams at the camera.]
It's been a boring, uneventful couple of days, hasn't it? Normally, this time of month we'd be welcoming a fresh batch of soldiers into our ranks, but as of today, no new faces have shown up yet. It's strange for sure.
[But not too strange. New arrivals were late by a few days in January, after all, so this isn't the first time the routine has been broken. Head turned and tapping her cheek innocently, Rin considers saying as much, or asking if there have been other weird incidents like that, but...
No, that isn't what she meant to do today. Pressing that finger a little more deeply into her cheek, it creates an artificial dimple when she smiles brightly again.]
Strange, and more importantly than that: dull! Which is why I'll be in the kitchen all day today. [She snaps her fingers, pointing at the camera.] That's where you come in!
I'm challenging myself. Name a food or ingredient, or even several, and I'll try to make something yummy that incorporates all of them. Anything in stock in the kitchen goes!
[With this she grabs her phone, so she can turn it and record all the various different foods and ingredients they have here, both what she's laid out on the counters (eggs, frosting, butter, strawberries, among other things), as well as what's in the fridge and pantries. FEEL FREE TO MAKE UP WHATEVER YOU WANT YOUR CHARACTERS TO SEE HERE.]
Bonus! [She turns the camera back on herself.] Anything I make you can stop by and help yourself to eating, too. Sounds fun, right? So fire away or come visit. You know where to find me.
[A little wave, and video end.]

You know, she was totally going to give up and let him off the hook (she's not that mean), but she feels personally slighted that he didn't fall over like she expected him to. And if he's not even going to try to close his mouth, can anyone blame her??
Of course they couldn't. Even a saint would forgive her. Grinning fiercely, Rin seizes the opportunity to plop the snail in Masaomi's mouth...!]

He groans as it goes into his mouth, the thing dancing on his tongue as he swirls it around, closes his mouth, and then ... chews. As he chews, it begins to vanish. And this time, he must taste it.
Why. ]

Satisfied at her victory, Rin's entire demeanor does a 180. She pulls away from him, all smiles and cheeks glowing.]
So? So? It's good, isn't it? Like a yummy clam. I bet it would go even better with butter and garlic.

[ UGH.
He stands, sticking his tongue out and marveling about how the thing is just gone. Ugh, gross. He wiggles his tongue and makes his way back to a seat. Uuugh. Where did he put that Dew? He's drowning in Dew. ]

You have no taste.
[She sticks her tongue out at him too, but then picks up the box of snails to move them to the other counter. She'll get back to making Masaomi's meal now.]

[ Guzzling down the Dew... ]

[She's just gonna get this small grill out while he does.]

Are you kidding? He has to make himself sick eating like that!

[ Huff. ] Shikamaru's just as lazy. Hell, he might be lazier, I'm not sure he'd eat unless I put things in front of him.
[ You know what, he's on a roll: ] Then Aang-kun's a religious vegetarian so anything he does eat ends up feeling bland. Same for Ikki, actually.

... It's a time difference thing, but she's Aang-kun's granddaughter, way from his future.

[Said blandly. It's not the weirdest time travel story she's heard, but she isn't going to mention mum about that.]
And she doesn't give him any lip about eating her vegetables? That's great. With the benefit of photosynthesis, she'll grow up healthy and strong.
no subject
... Is she calling Ikki a plant? The young man laughs a little at this, and shakes his head. ]
Oh, she's already amazing! You know how Zuko-chan' a firebender? Both her and Aang-kun are Airbenders.
no subject
So they can full control the air element?

Hilda-chan couldn't cook worth anything, at least at first, but he dignity wouldn't allow that to be an issue.

A mortal and pestle, then. With it, she begins finely crushing a mixture of peppercorn and coriander seeds, still listening..]

[ . . . ]
Katara liked to work with vegetables, but growing up on the South Pole, she did have a feel somewhat odd tastes.
no subject
That's a brilliant way to give yourself a heart attack.
[Finger down, she then reaches for a grater to begin grating the orange zest into the pepper mixture.]

[ He laughs, shaking his head. That was literally years ago, wasn't it? ]

[ But then, they were spoiled. ]
