[video] Hundred years, hundred more
So.
[He pauses, thinking on how to word this. Well, no sense in beating around the bush, is there?]
Thanks to the events of the previous two months, it has come to my attention that many, if not the majority of you have some likely rather deep rooted issues that the Queen is prone to picking at, and that she is unlikely to stop until we destroy her or she breaks our will to fight.
In light of this, I am offering my services as... shall we say a councilor? I know that it's difficult to trust someone whom most of you hardly know, but this is in fact something I have trained for. I can't and won't promise a complete lack of judgement, but I can assure you that you will be treated fairly if you seek me out for help.
Rest assured, anything you say that doesn't pose a direct threat to the other members of this little army will be held in confidence.
Feel free to speak to me at any time about anything that ails you, from minor complaints to feelings of loss to - [Subconsiously, he rubs at the edge of where the purple scales meet the rest of his face.] - traumatic events you may or may not have survived.
[He stops again, realizing something, and then breaks into a smile.]
Oh, but where are my manners? I am Ghaleon.

Regardless, betrayal is sound reason not to put one's faith in others so easily.
[He knows that well enough from both sides, and it's one of the few things he actually feels any guilt for.]

But for the most part, no, the humans in my life have been quite loyal. Even in the one instance it really mattered, it was hardly his idea, and more an instance of...split loyalties. No, in that case it was much more that the goddess that we both had pledged our loyalty to utterly failed me as a friend and dragged him along in a decision I didn't agree with at the time.
[It's still a terribly bitter memory, even so far removed from it.]
Just because she was ultimately right doesn't make the way she went about it alright.

What was that decision?
[ video ] I'm sure Mithos wasn't expecting sudden salt, hahaha
[His voice goes up slightly in pitch in a half-assed attempt to sound like a woman. Sure, he could probably do a considerably more convincing falsetto if he felt like, but it's hardly worth the effort to try and accurately mimic someone he'd last seen a thousand years ago in the form of a teenage girl.]
"Oh, no, Ghaleon, it's perfectly fine. There will be no drawbacks to leaving my post and leaving everyone but you two in the dark about it whatsoever. Humans will sort it out on their own."
[With a roll of his eyes, he returns to his normal voice.]
Yes, no problems whatsoever beyond the obvious power vacuum created, and the chaos and bloodshed that would have inevitably ensued had the ruse been discovered. This is definitely something perfectly fine to tell someone who'd been your devout priest for most of their not inconsiderable lifespan and friend for years at the last possible second. It absolutely doesn't show that my feelings weren't taken into consideration at all, oh no.
[With a sigh, Ghaleon calms.]
...My apologies. It's just frustrating that we can never sort out our grievances with each other since she died of what was most likely old age.

But what he says next takes him by surprise. She reincarnated into a human baby? He couldn't ignore the parallels to Martel, only that had been his idea, not hers. Of course, Martel wasn't a real goddess; just a half-elf he built up as one, both to ensure Cruxis was never questioned by humans, and for the sheer irony of making humans worshiping a half-elf they murdered in cold blood. }
... wow. { No, he hadn't been expecting that sudden Great Salt Lake pouring down on him out of nowhere, but... if that's all true... }
If it makes you feel any better, my world doesn't have a very good history with humans and goddesses, either.
