* not much, not much, just hangin' with about 3 new and old friends in this cage dangling precariously above the water.
* can't say i like the conditions either, but the cold and damp doesn't get under my skin. i think i see other cages, tho and, uh, i can't say much for them yet.
* six other occupied cages, with about three in each. hey, it's like those math problems you used to get in school.
* startin' to get a real sinking feeling so if there's anybody out there who ain't locked up, it'd mean a lot to me and over 20 other people if you bailed us out.

And here I was worried I was looking at a challenge.

No, my plans are a lot more passive. I'll tell you more when I've developed them further. Air bags, ice, jamming gears, that sort of thing.

[ Tarps, blankets, food, water, now ice? air bags? Holy moly, Colin, how the hell are you gonna find enough hours in a day to locate them, gather that together, and haul it all over here?

And not even counting his construction plan. Yikes. ]

* and if the queen's put some kinda limitation on how we can affect the cages, can't say the same goes for whatever's controllin' them.

I don't expect it's going to be that easy. But physics is a lot harder to break than mages like to admit.

Trick is, once I settle on a plan, I'll only have time for ONE I'm guessing. I'm good, but even I'm not able to be in two places at once without judicial use of time travel. So whatever we settle on, we have to make sure it's the right one.

Getting in and gumming up the gears will take time and maneuverability. Creating buoyancy rigs will take time and materials. Icing over the water will take time and magical power that I'll have to recruit elsewhere....

Time, time, time. Never enough of it when you need it.

We're still working to find you, but once we do, I'm going to try and get to those gears and take a look.

I agree with the assessment, but I'm not quite ready to put my eggs in that basket. Still too many variables.

Plus, if we give the queen too little credit, bad things can happen. If those gears have a failsafe like I'd install, they'd drop those cages into the water at the first sign of tampering. The only thing inside them is not anything she'd feel sore about losing.

... Not trying to get you down in the dumps. Just voicing my thought process. WAY too many unknowns for me to commit to anything. Especially anything that might get you guys a cold bath before it's time.
