* can't say i like the conditions either, but the cold and damp doesn't get under my skin. i think i see other cages, tho and, uh, i can't say much for them yet.
* six other occupied cages, with about three in each. hey, it's like those math problems you used to get in school.
* startin' to get a real sinking feeling so if there's anybody out there who ain't locked up, it'd mean a lot to me and over 20 other people if you bailed us out.

[Again. Just like March, people had been plucked from amongst them and placed in danger with the newcomers.

Perhaps Nikkari should feel bad for the sense of relief he feels knowing the people he's closest to are all safe, but he doesn't. Oh, he worries for the ones who were taken of course, but it's not with the same urgency as if those he considers precious were in danger of, from what it sounds like, possibly being drowned.

He seeks Yorda all the same.]

Hey. Don't worry. We'll solve this in no time.

[ She's a bit surprised at the sudden appearance of ~~other dad figure~~ Nikkari, but she calms down quickly enough and nods in response. She knows they will. Everyone here was very intelligent and very quick on their feet. They were going to solve this and everyone was going to be okay ... maybe. Unless they were traumatized into forever somehow, which was not impossible.

She was more worried about how much more of this her mother was going to inflict on everyone. It's pretty clear that there's something more that she's worried about, even if she's not verbally talking ... or signing. ]

[For all that he acts the fool, Nikkari has spent a long, long time observing people. Often, they say as much in silence as if they had given him a paragraph worth of words.

Certainly, he can't tell exactly what the worry is, but with the state of things, it shouldn't be that hard to take a stab at guessing, right?]

The people here sure are amazing, huh? Keeping it together under all this pressure for this long in spite of their own issues...

["This way, maybe you can protect someone precious too." It goes unvoiced, but it's plain as day in the sword's mismatched eyes, the red one for once visible beneath his hair.]

[ Their Princess?? Yorda hadn't considered herself to really be a princess in a long time, so it was really strange to hear it from Nikkari. Still, she appreciated what he was offering. It was a good idea, for her to learn ... then she could help fight, too. Ico wouldn't have to do everything for her. Everyone else wouldn't feel like they had to protect her so much. Maybe.

She nodded in response to Nikkari. Yes, that would be good. Her physical strength still wasn't so great, but that would improve as she continued practice with a sword, wouldn't it? ]

[Indeed, practicing with this sword would help with her strength. Besides, the style Nikkari was best suited for was more about speed than strength, which would likely serve Yorda better.

He grins brightly at her response. This was why he thought of her as a princess. Not because it was her title - with a queendom like this, that would be a hollow title indeed - but because of who she is. Because she dares to recognize that she's been powerless, and dares to try and change that.

Because in that frail body, he's sure there's an iron will that's slowly awakening.]
