EMERGENCY BROADCAST (text)
(All active cellphones sound an alarm briefly during the delivery of this message.)
To: All Users
From: sans.
Subject: (SUBJECT HERE)
--------------------------------------------------------
URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: The following is an automated message.
Nature of Emergency: cagey queen left us hanging
PRESS 1 if outside the vicinity of: home If it is safe to do so, follow the prompts to take and send an image of your surroundings to the administrator.
Users in the vicinity of: home are requested to congregate in the: mess hall immediately for: probably a good idea to come save us
Additional Notes:
* sup.
* not much, not much, just hangin' with about 3 new and old friends in this cage dangling precariously above the water.
* can't say i like the conditions either, but the cold and damp doesn't get under my skin. i think i see other cages, tho and, uh, i can't say much for them yet.
* six other occupied cages, with about three in each. hey, it's like those math problems you used to get in school.
* startin' to get a real sinking feeling so if there's anybody out there who ain't locked up, it'd mean a lot to me and over 20 other people if you bailed us out.
* see ya. sans.

As it is, their pride is- obvious.]
They always have been.
[They wouldn't resent Rin picking Frisk over them even if the thought had crossed their mind. It's a valuable protection; an additional insurance that, despite anything else, Frisk will make it through today, even if no one else does.
It's a small compensation. But they'll take it.]

[Chara's the one who straightens at Rin's praise, while Frisk wordlessly slides their knife home into the black leather sheath. One hand reaches out palm-up, requesting the jeweled dagger back.]
[They wonder what kind of person it makes them, that there's a little flame of warmth in their middle at the pride in Rin's and Chara's tones. They don't feel very proud of themself for the way the hilt folds into their fingers with practiced ease or the powerful taste of the incantations on their tongue. But neither is there shame, where the butterfly-pin judgment of a cyan glow might bear down on the choices they've made. None of that matters to them.]
[Just a little flame of warmth, that they try not to let stir in their SOUL. Better to do. Frisk will make it through today, but it's not themself they're worried about.]
Thank you. We'll be careful. I promise.
[they think they understand why sans dislikes promises, now; which is precisely why they have to keep making them.]
... Chara. Let's find the others.

It's a bit too late to pretend like she doesn't care. Several weeks too late, in fact, but even if it weren't, Rin doesn't think she would bother. She won't worry, either. Her friendship with Chara was born out of how surprisingly competent she found the child; Frisk from the careful thought they put into each of their actions. They both have flaws, but they make up for each other's weaknesses in many ways too.
And maybe she's stalled them just enough that the plans Masaomi said he's trying to put together will pull them in, before they can get too far ahead.]
Reading ahead in the script, huh? That's fine. It saves me from having to say something so cheesy.
But a promise is a promise, and just because I didn't ask it of you doesn't mean I won't hold you to it now that it's out there.
See you soon.
