[Sometime during the afternoon, a simple text makes its way onto the network, no picture or video attached.]

 

I'm back from vacation.

Don't worry. It was boring.

[None of which is, precisely, a lie. Thankfully, considering Frisk is just about the worst liar they know.]

[But it's good to be home.]

[Frisk is nothing if not honest. Well, when not perpetuating cover stories made by certain skeletons, anyway. They're still eager to see Papyrus again, though, so they put the brakes on their teasing to start up another message.]

I'm ready to bask now.

I WILL! COME AND FIND YOU! PLEASE STAY EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE!

[ more NYEH HEH HEH HEH!!!s reverberate through the castle. What a funny skeleton. ]

[Just about the best sound there is, if you were to ask Frisk. Obediently, they slide their phone into their pocket and wait in place, remaining as still as a statue - something they're quite good at, actually. They don't even consider texting him their location. He is, after all, very great.]

[Besides, a guy sequentially dials every phone number until he gets to yours, he probably won't have too much trouble finding a room.]

[Should Papyrus make it to their door, he'll find it slightly ajar, removing the need to knock before entering. Frisk is inside, stretched across the middle level of a three-level bunk bed with their arms hanging lazily over the edge. As soon as they see him, they'll lift one arm up to give a little wave.]

[Whoops, they moved a muscle. Good thing Papyrus isn't using his special attack.]

[ you can practically hear him sprinting down the hall-- he's so excited. He turns the door open, his bright and boney expression catching a tiny HUMAN IN THE CORNER OH MY GOODNESS--

he rushes over and swoops them into a hug, Er-- a capture. ]

NYEH HEH HEH!!! I HAVE CAPTURED YOU, HUMAN!! [ he spins around a little bit. How very excite. +25 excite points!!! ]

[Oof! Humans may have a lot more physicality than monsters, but when it comes down to it, a child is still no bodily match for the great Papyrus. He sweeps them up, and Frisk lets out a noise somewhere between surprise and laughter, their arms hooking around his humeri as he swings them into a little spin.]

[It strikes them, somehow, that they missed this - without even knowing it was gone.]

[A touch dramatically, Frisk withdraws one of their hands to tip it against their forehead, leaning away from Papyrus with a clearly genuine faintness.]

Oh no. This is the end for me.

[ he pulls away when they do, still holding them aloft. Their dramatic flair reaches him and his entire face lights up. He did a good job. Papyrus preens. So proud of himself!! He has done such a good!! ]

OF COURSE!! NONE ARE A MATCH FOR THE WIT AND SPEED OF THE AMAZING PAPYRUS!

[ Frisk is set down with gentle care. He pulls away for a moment, watching carefully, the excitement melting into a little bit of nervousness. Which he tries overwhelmingly to hide with his incredible confidence!!!!!!! ]

BUT...IT IS NOT TRULY THE END, IS IT? NOT THAT!! I AM WORRIED!!

[ a pause. He makes shifty eyes at the wall. ]

......I AM ONLY SLIGHTLY WORRIED!! BECAUSE YOU ARE MY FRIEND, TINY HUMAN, AND I HAVE NOT BROKEN YOU WITH MY GREATNESS, HAVE I??

[And that is exactly why Papyrus is so great. Frisk does little to hide how pleased they are by his presence; their eyes crinkle upwards into subtle half-moon crescents, and they briefly rock onto the tips of their toes, easily much more energized than they'd been before his arrival. It's hard to be tired when you've got the world's coolest skeleton calling you his friend.]

[Papyrus just has that effect on people.]

[Frisk shakes their head vigorously in response to his concern before throwing him a thumbs-up. No broken humans here.]

[ their answer fills him with happiness, even if they don't say anything! He can't control the grin spreading across his face! Someone help! It's contagious!

...not really. His hands practically slam into his hips. The day has new meaning! ]

HAVE YOU JUST RETURNED FROM YOUR VACATION?!

[A happy Papyrus is a happy... well, a lot of people, honestly. Frisk mirrors that motion of planting their fists on their hips, puffing their chest out a little bit to match his confidence. In fact, the gesture is so emboldening that it takes the edge of unpleasantness out of bringing up their "vacation".]

I've been back for a few days. [A pause, and then in a tone that's mostly teasing:] Did you miss me?

[ the tall skeleton looks as if he could start weeping with happiness at any second when Frisk copies his gesture! What poise! Papyrus brings a hand to his chest and delicately presses red gloved fingertips against his chestplate. He's beaming. ]

OF COURSE I DID, LITTLE FRIEND!!! THOUGH ONLY PLATONICALLY!!

BUT I DID MISS YOU AND I AM VERY GLAD YOU HAVE RETURNED! WHAT A VERY SILLY QUESTION!

[ he huffs, giving Frisk a mock 'how dare!!!!' look, which is replaced by his casual, skeletal grin.
