[ It's so strange to be able to type again. After literally years of having to handwrite written messages, it's odd to use a phone again. It's perhaps that more than anything which sees him putting up this post onto the social media network. It's form a "newbie" and it might be out of place with the growing dark climate with the flickering lights and rotting foot, but it's something he throws out all the same.

And it's...! ]

Soooo!! Does anyone know any god date spots in the castle? Anyone already sailing the seas of romance before now, or is the stark soldiery we've been pushed towards put a quash on romance in the name of stoic friendship? Let's hear those stories, people! [Because if she was pretty but didn't like to be called pretty...]

More like it was a fact, actually. I can't say I get it either, but she did have some pride.

[ A tilt of his head ]

[ And he reaches down under his loose white top which still smells funny Rin found to show one of the several pieces of jewelry he has on - a simple looking silver chain with a blue gemstone. He holds it out for Zuko to examine if she wants. ]

[Zuko takes it, giving it a brief inspection.]

Does it do anything special?

[It reminds her of her now-useless amulet from the Bastion. For some reason, she keeps wearing it, tucked under her shirt.]

In RPG terms, you could say it raises "defense," as impossible as it seems. So I'm more durable while wearing it - or well, anyone would be.

[ And he tilts his head to the other side holding out his hands to get it back. He also gestures to his ear. There's several clip earrings in there, but there's also another spot towards the lobe. ]

There's another that goes here, a hoop earring to make me more or less immune to electricity.

[This is not the first time someone has casually told Zuko that they can be immune to electricity. She guesses it makes sense considering his companion, but it still feels like she's being belittled somehow. Even with Uncle's training, lightning almost killed her. But he can just... put on some jewelry, and he's immune.]

[Zuko hands him back the necklace.]

Honestly, I really benefit from it.

[ But that said... ] After all, electricity is one of the most dangerous things in the world, right? Well, this and any world. Sooo, I asked Raven-chan for it specifically.

[ He knows about it nearly killing aang. He knows about the phobia that Katara had as a result. All that baggage they had with the whole thing. But Masaomi at least is just glad Zuko didn't react with animosity to Linda, like Katara did at first. He smiles, reaching down at patting her head. Linda discharges a little static that makes his hair stand on end, but the smirks and noogies her back ]

Of course, with he output, she'd probably overwhelm it! Linda here can be as strong as a genuine lightning bolt!

[Zuko's not exactly going to leap at the chance to pet Linda or anything, but she's met a pikachu before and that helped. She's not nearly so on edge about it as she used to be.]

And it just comes naturally?

Mmmhm. Electricity is her birthright, and it builds up in her body, storing itself in those cheek pouches you see there. [ He says this as he's putting his necklace back on, and Linda is preening as he does. He continues to reiterate the stuff Crystal-chan's data provided, as well as his own experience, ] She can use it to stimulate her muscles, control magnetic fields, glow in the dark, and of course discharge it. Or rather, she has to discharge it sometimes! She's actually in a bit of a foul mood if she builds up too much. [ It naturally makes Raichu aggressive to not release any. ] Which is what the tail's for - think of it as a grounding cable. And it can also be used as a lightning rod of sorts, to collect ambient or static energy if she somehow drains too much.

[ And he clicks the necklace... there! ]

That said, she can easily reach ten thousand volts and way beyond that for little bursts. Some of the strongest of her kind [ HEY WAIT-!! I'M THE STRONG-- ] Can reach past one hundred thousand in sustained shocks

[Okay, she wasn't expecting him to go into that much detail. It's a little uncomfortable.]

I don't know what a volt is, but that sounds powerful.

[ Well he's proud of his girl! He's proud and what's more, he wants to try to impress upon Zuko that they're on top of things. That said, patting the mouse on the head again, he nods ]

It's a unit of measure for the pressure of electricity in my world. I'm no physicist, but the jist is that volts measure the strength of the charge, and then amps is how fast the charge can flow. You combine those to determine the power when it actually hits or powers something.

[ He may or may not have tried to explain that with hand signs representing a garden hose ]

[If anything, the hand gestures almost hinder her comprehension of this explanation, but "unit of measure" is pretty easy to grasp. Even if she has no idea how you measure that. She's just going to file it under the broad category of technology that's too advanced for her.]

It's nowhere near that strong when you're using it to power things though, right? Like a washing machine.

[Do washing machines run on electricity? Or would that be dangerous since there's water in them.....]

In Japan I think we're usually powering a washing machine with a hundred volt cable? I think it's like that... I only really became interested in electricity because of her, so I'm working from behind.

[ He hums a little, folding his arms before he nods. ]

That said, she's really good at controlling her output.

[ Linda, for her part, is still trying to look cool. For Zuko and Kizuna with a puffed out stomach ]

[So ten thousand volts is..... a lot of washing machines.]

It just sounds dangerous for something that people use all the time.

But I guess steam burns, too.

[Kizuna continues to be impressed by Linda! But Zuko is happy to maintain a healthy distance.]

Mmmhm. And a surprising number of people kill themselves on train tracks. For better or worse, if we don't want to accept the risks of nature, we have to accept the risks of society.

[ And given he lived in Tokyo... Even if he did get some survivalist impressions in Luceti at different times, he's incredibly nostalgic to return to an urban environment, someday. ]

[There's a flash of confusion on Zuko's face about the train tracks bit. She hasn't exactly ridden many trains in her life, so it seems like an oddly specific thing to mention.]

Then again, what do I know? The leading cause of death back where I've been for years was "genocidal cultists" and following it was probably "giant wolf god"

[ It's self-depreciating humor, but he laughs at his own joke here, shaking his head with a shrug ]

I don't see how that's anything to laugh about.

[Zuko would probably say that about most things considering how long it's been since she laughed, but we're talking about death here. How is death supposed to be funny?]

It isn't, really.

[ But he trails off from the laugh with a long exhale, shaking his head and smiling down at the dragon briefly before looking back at Zuko, a more neutral expression on his face.]

I don't mean to make things seem too grim for Aang-kun or Katara. The later in particular is one of the strongest people I know, and that wolf god's not really around anymore.

[ Because, he assumes, she must mean more for their sake than just the morality of it ]

I'm not worried about them. They can take care of themselves, and each other.

[There's no way either of them would get taken down by a giant wolf god or whatever a cultist is.]

[ She's not worried at all... huh. He frowns a little, but then exhales long, arching his head back to look up at the ceiling. Huh... ]

Well, that's good someone's not.

[ He rumbles from one foot to the other and then shakes his head ]

But okay, okay, no controversy.

[It's good someone's not worried? But the only other person who even knows they're there to worry about is...

He's worried?]

Time doesn't move back home while we're here anyway.

[ Other people - including her - hadn't mentioned that before now. The implication he'd gotten was that not many people had gone back and then returned here, so it was less clear because there wasn't empirical evidence.

But he leaned forward now, his gaze harder and much more insistent. His whole demeanor changed on a dime there, as if this was a worry he'd had for the last few days ]

Someone from home showed up here last month. He had no idea I'd been here eight months already. It was still the same day I'd left there.

[There's nothing in Zuko's tone to indicate that it's a big deal, but try having that worry for eight months.]
