Video 001: First Shot in the Dark

Hey guys, so I know it's not the best quality video, sorry. This whole network thing is weird to get used to.

Anyways! Hi, I'm Prompto! Uh...I'm from a place called Eos, specifically I'm from the Kingdom of Lucis. Before I left there was this thing that has been referred to as a plague...it's called the Starscourge and it's like really bad. Basically it makes the nights longer. For a bout ten years before I got here...we didn't have any sunlight because of this stuff.

Because of that, we had a lot of these things,

[ He holds a picture that looks a lot like the monsters that have been around in the much darker areas ofthe castle. ]

They're called daemons. there are a few different types but....but they are all...

[ He pauses a bit, scratching at his worst before he looks back at the camera. ]

They are created when people or animals are affected by the Starscourge, basically they are parasitized by it and after a while they become daemons. The only cure that has been found was thanks to a person known as the Oracle. I used to know the one back home...well knew of her.

She was my best friends fiance and sort of a celebrity in her own way. Total sweetheart too.

Anyways, these daemons start off as people, like you and me...and then....then those people get sick...and if it isn't treated...well...then you get what we have here.

Daemons can be fought, they can be killed....they just...some are harder than others and some take damage from different things. All will take damage from light based things though, it's why I use Quicksilver here. One of the best guns for tracking moving targets and destroying limbs.

What I'm trying to say is that they are beatable....don't give up. If a scrawny kid like me could fight them for five years, a whole group of us can do it just fine.

About the daemons....not much else though...sorry.

I didn't bring shit here, last I saw of home the Starscourge was gone.
As for that last part...for now yeah I guess? I mean unless we can figure out something else.
I just said it was the only cure we found.
I don't know, maybe people from other worlds will be able to help?

I just got here at the beginning of the month and I was sort of doing my own grieving, thanks.

As it is I didn't even know what was going on until I had to do a bit of recon myself. I didn't want to give people information only for it not to be right, ya know?

This shit's being going on for a month. An entire fucking month. And you expect me to believe that you were pulling recon duty all this time, watching everyone get sick, without so much of a warning to us as to what it could possibly be?

Either you're one of those types who love chaos and conflict or you're utterly shit at reconnaissance. I can't decide which one would piss me off more.

Alright, I get it, I am way off my game and yeah I'd be pissed too. Obviously you are going through some shit, sorry to hear that.

I'm giving you information, take it or leave it.

If I seem insensitive then oh well, I've lived with this shit for ten years. Ten years of utter darkness with daemons that are bigger than cars. I lost my best friend to stop this shit, if there was some other way that would have been great.

As it is if we can find a way to heal people without the Oracle then that would be great. Can't really do that with people yelling at me for being 'late' to something I didn't even know was happening for what ever reason.

No it's not.

However, after the day he's had...he just wants to talk to people, help, get something to eat, and then curl up in a corner.

Or fight some daemons.

I don't really know what she did. Noct never told me...and I never really got to see it in person.

Not really? It was like...a kind of magic.

But not the same as like my friend Noct's or any other magic I had seen. Well I mean I didn't get to see it first hand either.

How do people get sick? is it contagious?

are people still themselves at all when they become daemons?

You said there was a cure, but you act like we can't get it here. what was it?

I said what 'it' was. And it wasn't an 'it' it was a her.

The oracle. She and her bloodline were given gifts from the Astrals. So yeah...unless she shows up we don't really have one. Unless this place makes it different some how.

I don't think it's necessarily contagious? There weren't any quarantines or anything.

It's caused by this like parasite? It's in the air...mostly in the dark.

What's an astral? We have people from all sorts of worlds. We could have something similar you just don't know about.

So there's no real way to keep people from getting sick?

Does it target certain people, the illness? Or is it just random on who comes down with it?
