Uhm, hello-- wait, no, it's crooked...

[Indeed it is, the scene showing Pidge at an angle. There's already a scattering of tools on the desk in whatever room she and Keith got assigned to, a mess indicative of someone who tends to think "what can I tinker with" long before "I should clean this mess".

In fact...

Where did Pidge get those tools from?

Do some of them look... familiar to any of you?

And what exactly has Pidge been making with all those spare parts, anyway?

In any case, she goes to the trouble of righting the camera angle, showing that part of the armor of her Paladin suit has been removed to a longsleeve black turtleneck underneath. That's actually what this post is about, not the random parts and tools on the table.]

Right, there. Anyway, uh. I'm Pidge Gunderson. I came in with the others at the beginning of this month, along with my teammate Keith. I know there's some... weird stuff going on with memories and whatever but--

I mean, look, I know that's probably important and everyone is focused on that rather than what your newbies are up to, but seriously... is there any way we could get some new clothes? Keith and I have been in our Paladin suits for way too long and. Yeah. No amount of showers are going to make these things smell right again if we don't have anything else to wear.

[Unfortunately due to the issue of Ozuma still being out of commission, even if someone had told her about getting favors there's really no way to go about that right now.

And that was a bit of a ramble because what is dealing with new people over a social media-like network in a strange castle that they've all be consigned to.

She can't think of anything more to say, so she reaches forward and turns the feed off to put the message up.]

(ooc: So I asked it on Plurk, but if anyone is okay with having Pidge pilfering random tools and whatnot during the first couple of weeks here, you're more than welcome to call her out on all the crap she has on her desk. :D)

... First, you can return the Blastiatech equipment you grabbed from me and Estelle's room. That won't even do anything for you without cores that we can't get right now... And it won't even work with the other tools.

Either way, yeah, that's blastiatech, and I'm the only one who can do anything with it here. You probably want electrical tech, which is... A lot of the rest of what you've acquired.

[Hopefully she didn't grab enough stuff to actually seriously annoy somebody. Rita seems at least a little forgiving maybe? She's learning.]

[Pidge shrugs visibly with a grunt of "I'unno!". The door was open, that's all she knows. She was intending on returning stuff later when she could actually ask for her own things.]

I wanted something to do. I don't even have access to a laptop here, and my suit can only do so much without me modding it to heck and back.

[And she can only go so far with that before Allura would tell Pidge to knock it the hell off.]

Wait, your suit's modifiable? How does that work?

[The idea of clothing doing things is something new to Rita.]

Well, I assume it is. I mean, it's the same tech as the Voltron lions and the castle, and I was able to put modifiers on both my lion and one of the shuttles!

I haven't tried it yet, though. It's pretty advanced already and I was able to sync it's communications relay up to the the network on my first day, but I don't want to accidentally break something.

... Voltron lions? Castle?

[Even if Voltron hadn't been seen in 10,000 years in the rest of the galaxy, the likelihood of people in this place even having a shred of information about the guardian was slim.

Different dimensions and all that.]

Voltron is the Defender of the Galaxy. Aaaat least where I'm from. And even so, the five of us didn't know a thing about it until we found the Blue Lion on Earth. Voltron is made up of the five Lions, and the Castle of Lions is actually a warship where the Lions have their hangars.

The whole thing is suuuuper alien, at least to us Earthlings. We only became the Paladins because of finding the Blue Lion and going to where the castle was.

... Stranger ways to start an adventure, I guess.

[Like being accused of stealing blastia cores you didn't need.]

The entire galaxy, though... That's definitely large-scale stuff.

It's been a ride, that's for sure.

[Not that she's happy about the way it ended.

Yeah. But, hey. Better than letting the Galra Empire take over Earth, and any other planets they haven't gotten their grubby little claws on yet.

They sound like a problem.

[... Funny enough, Rita works for the Empire in her world. But then, they're not total jerks, and their name isn't... That.]

["Problem" doesn't even cover it.]

... Yeah, that... That'd do it.

[Rita's not sure what. She never really HAD a family, so...]

And you're basically the only one who can save them?

Me and the rest of Team Voltron. Which as of right now still stands at just me and Keith.

That's why I was tinkering with this stuff. I was hoping I could get at least some sort of scan of the space beyond this planet going and hopefully have an idea of where they might be, even if we can't get to them right now.

[Rita blinked a bit.]

From what I've seen.... There's no guarantee we're in the same universe. Different 'worlds' might mean entirely different universes.

I still have to try. I won't be satisfied until I know for sure myself.

[Pidge is stubborn, news at 11.]

I guess it's worth trying to get the data, at least.

... Assuming we don't risk adding the Galra Empire to our existing problems on this world. That would suck.

I think if we stay off their radar enough they won't think of coming this direction. Everything I've been told so far has indicated that this planet isn't very densely populated and has little in the way of technology that would be considered threatening to them.

And again that's even if we're in the same universe as them.

[Which is something Pidge doesn't want to consider even though she knows she has to.]

They're afraid of technology and not the crazy magic and Artes people have here? That's odd.

You haven't seen what a Galra warship's rail gun can do. It's not quite atomic bomb level of destructive but it's pretty darn close. And it's mounted on a warship that can travel through space.

They want planets with populations they can control and exploit. They want slaves - miners and people to fight in their arenas. Anyone who doesn't fit in with their master plan of total galactic conquest gets obliterated.

Atomic... Bomb?

[Rita can guess, but she doesn't know the scale.]

... oh. Right. Different worlds.

[Pidge lets out a huff before launching in to an explanation.]

An atomic bomb is a bomb that derives its destructive power from the rapid release of nuclear energy, essentially causing mass amounts of damage all at once via heat, blast, and radioactivity. They're huge, power, and terrifying. Only two have ever been used in the entire history of my planet and the end result was all world leaders agreeing to never do it again because of the insane death toll and the fall out that continued to kill even more people after it was over.

Granted I don't think the Galra Empire has access to anything that would cause a nuclear fall out, but the blast radius from one of their rail guns is still massive and likely to kill anyone who isn't protected.

[Rita blinks. That description... May be the only time in Rita's life that science has genuinely horrified her.]
