So I was wondering...

Has anyone here been to a world that's not their own before? Or been to a place like this, with people from a lot of different worlds?

Also hands up if you've died before, I'm kind of curious. Since death's supposedly not permanent in this place, I was wondering. Bonus points if you've died in one of those worlds that brings in people from multiple worlds.

(Points are not going to actually be awarded, before you even ask.)

... What, so they just... leave home? Your world must be pretty safe.

Not necessarily. It's just customary for children to leave and start a Pokemon journey if they want to. They receive a starter Pokemon, then they go and befriend other Pokemon, and ... do whatever they want with that. Many choose to battle Gym Leaders and get their badges, then enter the Pokemon League so they can prove they have what it takes to be the best of the best at Pokemon. Others enter their Pokemon into contests, or musicals, or they decide they want to become breeders ... we basically start the rest of our lives from a young age.

Oh, so you just all grow up earlier. Huh.

... What's a Pokemon?

Oh, right. I forgot not everyone know what they are. Uh. Hold on.

[ Switching to video! And suddenly, there is a cute furry face in the camera. ]

This is Zorua. She's a Pokemon.

[ EXCITED YIPPING. ]

There are a lot more varieties then just Zorua, too.

[Wait it just went to video uh what how did it -]

[And then there's a furry face and he blinks in confusion and then... oh no. It's cute...]

She looks kind of like a puppy... or a fox...

So there's... a lot of them, where you're from?

Yeah. My region in particular has over 600 documented species of Pokemon. My Dad's region has even more than that.

That's a lot of different kinds of animals...

Yeah, definitely. Some people are crazy enough to want to catch all of the different species. As much as I really love Pokemon, though, I think I'm content to just be friends with them. If they want to stay with me, I leave it up to them.

I think that's probably best. You wouldn't want to force them to stay if they didn't want to...

Mhm. My husband is a lot more in-touch with Pokemon than anyone else is, so he would agree with that for sure.

I like a lot of animals more than a lot of people, honestly. They're a lot less dumb.

I ... have to say I agree. My best friend in any world ever is the first Pokemon I ever obtained, and he's a giant flaming boar.

I mean, I have some really good human friends, and of course my husband is my closest human friend, but both of us agree that Pokemon make really great friends.

Yeah. Animals don't really judge you, or care about your age.

[ She laughs a bit. ]

If anything, Emboar is a little too overprotective of me at times.

[ Given how Hilda sometimes tends to do things on impulse, though, being overprotective is probably a good safety precaution. ]

I guess I do kind of have a history of getting myself into trouble.

There are a lot of people here who can say the same, though, so ... we're not really alone in that.

Good. We can all get in trouble together.

It seems like that's going to happen anyway, given how this place operates. The Queen doesn't exactly like most people.

The queen sounds like she could use some straightening out.

That's what Ozuma brought us here for, so ... I'm sure we'll get plenty of chances to try.

I'm just a normal human, though. All I can really do is use strategy to help my team battle to their best potential. There's really no telling for sure how much of a difference I will make with that.

... That's not a bad thing. Strategy is pretty important.

Well, yeah, I guess. I'm not sure how my strategy skills will apply to anything but Pokemon, though.

It can't hurt much to try, at least.
