[It's been a busy few days. People are saved or dead, but time ticks on. It's early morning on the fourth, and a message appears on the network. It takes him a long while to write it out. It's hard. He wants to sound grown-up. And reflection isn't the easiest thing, but still... he manages.]
Marking days that are important to you are hard. You never know how to talk about them, or explain them to other people. They wouldn't understand, right?
But sometimes you just have to get things out there. If you want to skip this, that's fine. I understand.
( Cut for mention of parental death, attempted murder, and attempted suicide. )
... Dates like today... where you remember people who died... they can hurt. But... I think most people you really care about would want you to move on. Death... is inevitable. I know that. Most people know that. Just because one person's life ends doesn't mean they stop affecting you. It doesn't mean you have to stop fighting to save people.
But if they don't make it... they're still with you. Even if you go through hell, you can survive if you remember the people important to you.
I think sometimes here it's easy to forget that. It doesn't matter how 'normal' or 'ordinary' you think you are. I've seen people like that survive the worst kinds of situations.
We still have the future. We can still make our own way.
