And They All Lived "Happily" Ever After.

Greetings, fellow soldiers.

[The feed opens up to a view from the very edge of the bridge. Slim legs dangling over the edge, at the very precipice of everything.

It's a nice day today. The water's sparkling. A light breeze has small waves kicking up on it's surface, barely distinguishable from the quality of the video format. Even so- it's pretty.]

It's been a while since our last game. I'm sure most of you are busy with the flurry of activity this month has sparked, however- indulge me for a few minutes.

Consider it a question, more than a game.

What would a 'happy ending' look like, to you?

AN END TO WHAT, EXACTLY?
havesomedeath: (it's like this)

[personal profile] havesomedeath 2016-06-17 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. Do you mean like... in general? Like a happy ending to life?
havesomedeath: (well hey there)

[personal profile] havesomedeath 2016-06-17 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's easy then! I want a really gruesome, painless death!

[...

Yeah.]
havesomedeath: (here's how it is...)

[personal profile] havesomedeath 2016-06-17 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, those are all great ways! I haven't really settled on what I want most yet. I mean, it'll probably happen in some big battle, but there's still so many possibilities.

Of course, having it be a surprise is way more fun, but it's still nice to think of the possible horrible, bloody details!

[Littlepip hesitated for a time before sending this.]

a world without anyone killing anyone else. a vibrant world filled with life and happiness and no drugs or torture or crime.

[Littlepip feels a little tired.]

havesomedeath: (let's go!)

I dunno, you can get a lot of mileage out of a good stabbing if it's in the right spot! Depending on where it hits, it can cause a lot of blood loss and that'd be really pretty.

And if it's too boring, well, I can probably get one big curse out before I go. Y'know, make it a little more exciting.

[She's attempting the video today... but has unwittingly reversed the camera so all that's really visible is a patch of grass. In the background is the sound of splashing and the occasional quack.]

You mean to a story?

[personal profile] justribbing 2016-06-17 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Kid you get the hell off the edge of that long drop before your mother sees this and has a heart attack.

The danger's probably some of the appeal, and Sans is too far to catch them if they did tip off the bridge.

Might be why he's finding himself shuffling in that direction (which is to say, going the wrong way in search of a shortcut). ]

happy ending, huh? hmmm.
the story's main conflict introduced three minutes into the slot is neatly wrapped up in 27 minutes or less, roll credits.
hey, if they feel like insinuating a sequel, maybe they throw a teaser at the end.
your turn, kiddo.

I can't imagine a happy way to end an entire world.

Stories are easy. You can end them after a reunion. Or, when the characters are just starting something they're hopeful about, and they haven't failed at it yet.

Well, they might succeed eventually, if they keep at it. But there'll be failures along the way.

There's not many people who can do things perfectly on the first try.

People learn from their mistakes and continue to push forward.

Life goes on.

I get back to my hangar and finally finish my exhaust system cleaning that I had to put on hold.

[ He'd be lying if he tried to say he hadn't wished some things happening around here were just a bad dream he could wake up from, but that's pretty morbid.

About what he expected. ]

ever wonder why it stops there?
i mean, happy endings, what, the resolution of the main conflict mean there's nothing left to say?
makes a guy wonder.
so, hey.
can't help but notice something's still missing ever since you jacket.
any eta on when i'm getting that back?

[It's kind of disappointing that a kid like this doesn't agree. It's also a little unsettling, too. What went on with this kid?]

the closer we get to all that, the better things are. you stopped responding to me before so maybe we got off on the wrong hoof. i'm littlepip.

An interesting question but I'm more concerned about where you've chosen to seat yourself.

Hm, well. Obviously it'd have to be a death curse, that goes without saying. Y'know I can kill someone all the way across a battlefield with one of those? But taking down just one other person seems a little small, right?

I've always wanted to try taking down an entire army that way. I bet I could pull it off.

[This is one of those things he's absolutely worked on. Not that it's something he could test out here, of course.]
