And They All Lived "Happily" Ever After.
Greetings, fellow soldiers.
[The feed opens up to a view from the very edge of the bridge. Slim legs dangling over the edge, at the very precipice of everything.
It's a nice day today. The water's sparkling. A light breeze has small waves kicking up on it's surface, barely distinguishable from the quality of the video format. Even so- it's pretty.]
It's been a while since our last game. I'm sure most of you are busy with the flurry of activity this month has sparked, however- indulge me for a few minutes.
Consider it a question, more than a game.
What would a 'happy ending' look like, to you?

I think you summed it up fairly succinctly.

tori still wants to teach kids and, y'know? that's a beats out the ruins.
then there's her kids, and since you're here and all...
no subject
Oh yes, easy pickings for her happy ending. Unfortunately by my estimates, it's two children down, seven to go. If you feel like aiming high.
And of course, you've yet to take into account whether all of them would want to stay with her.

aiming too high sounds like work, let's keep it real simple.
think it's getting into the weeds a little?

I do not like this game you are playing.
Get to the point, or go back to stargazing.

see, there's no question what might make my bro happy.
frisk's gonna take a little more guesswork.
tori? she'll enjoy running a school.
question is if that's the kinda life you wanna live. that whole 'not living' option? I ain't a fan.
1/2
If he thinks they're going to forget that, he's got another thing coming. It seems like another talk might be in order.]
Frisk is easy; you really don't understand what they need, yet?
They need a family. One that actually cares about them, and presumes that their continual deaths aren't simply a happy side-effect of making everyone else's life *~magical*~

Because they would. Imagine that, never having to worry about them again. Wouldn't it be nice?

like my brother.
[ Or Chara.
Even if the two human kids seem every bit as lonely and abandoned as Papyrus was. Kids trying to make it in a world bigger than them, bigger and emptier, in heart if not in sheer space. ]
not really.
because it ain't about that anymore, kiddo.
pretty sure you want it to be over about as much as I do.

[Better than anyone else. Tipping their head back, Chara watches the sky for a while, legs swinging lazily back and forth over the edge of the bridge.]
I never said I didn't. We just have different ideas on what the ending should be. But at least we agree on one thing.

[ They're treading over more familiar ground, now, or he thinks. Never entirely safe to assume a damn thing, so the question, he thinks, is at least a step in a better direction.
Not the best one, but he doesn't have what it takes. ]

[Because if it were up to them, they'd still be meeting in that hallway, bathed in a golden light, and judgement would be...served.
Right?]
I wonder. How will Frisk go, once they restart their schooling? Maybe they'll take an interest in science.

what about you, kiddo?
[ He thinks back to another person's dream. Gardens and pictures on the walls. The occasions he spoke with the King and the times he didn't notice him slip through long-closed doors, giving himself an unofficial tour. ]
you sure like reading. drawing, too. right? or were those your brother's?
no subject
Enough.
This is my final warning, Sans. Prod and poke me like some experiment in human decency and redemption all you want, but if you bring my brother into this, then I will bring in yours.
Never mention him to me again. Understand?
