And They All Lived "Happily" Ever After.

Greetings, fellow soldiers.

[The feed opens up to a view from the very edge of the bridge. Slim legs dangling over the edge, at the very precipice of everything.

It's a nice day today. The water's sparkling. A light breeze has small waves kicking up on it's surface, barely distinguishable from the quality of the video format. Even so- it's pretty.]

It's been a while since our last game. I'm sure most of you are busy with the flurry of activity this month has sparked, however- indulge me for a few minutes.

Consider it a question, more than a game.

What would a 'happy ending' look like, to you?

It would be nice if the world could work like that, I guess. At least in some ways.

Yes, I did see that. I imagine the reactions to it were amazing.

They were pretty interesting. A few people were kind of horrified, but I don't really care that much.

May I actually offer some advice, on this matter? I admit that I didn't read many of the responses, however...one in particular caught my interest.

Some people here do have family, and some may take offence to having such queries directed to them.

For example, when I see you asking people if they've died, and that question reaches my mother-

Her advice was fairly pertinent. You would do better to ask people in private.

[He's about to say 'what am I supposed to do, mail surveys to everyone's inbox?', but if it's their mother... he's not going to be snarky about someone's mother.]

Besides, there's easier ways to get things out of people if you really want to know.

I figured asking would be pretty easy, but I guess maybe not.

Unfortunately, I think you'll find death is never quite that simple.

Depends on the circumstances, but I guess you're right in a lot of cases.

No. I've died a few times. And then at home, there's... some people who died but... it's complicated.

Then it's still never quite that simple, is it?

Sometimes. Depends on the circumstances, like I said.

In the last place I was in, though, I noticed there were a lot of people who were... weird. They came from weird circumstances and worlds in general. So when those kinds of people get involved... I think things stop being so simple in a lot of ways.

It would do you well to apply those same thoughts to the people here. This is hardly the first location in which the subject of death can be considered repetitious or even virtuous, to an extent.

When you add in the fact that many of these people are- as you say- weird, things will always continue to be complicated.

... Mm. I guess so. It was just such a casual thing for us in the Tower... to talk about dying.

Then it's a good thing humans have the power to adapt, isn't it?
