And They All Lived "Happily" Ever After.

Greetings, fellow soldiers.

[The feed opens up to a view from the very edge of the bridge. Slim legs dangling over the edge, at the very precipice of everything.

It's a nice day today. The water's sparkling. A light breeze has small waves kicking up on it's surface, barely distinguishable from the quality of the video format. Even so- it's pretty.]

It's been a while since our last game. I'm sure most of you are busy with the flurry of activity this month has sparked, however- indulge me for a few minutes.

Consider it a question, more than a game.

What would a 'happy ending' look like, to you?

maybe it's good for 'em to see somebody else go through something like or worse than their own experiences.
learn from them, or i don't know.
by seeing your happy ending, hope ain't lost for them, either.

[ He isn't taking the bait of that honesty barb. To defend now would just be asserting there's something wrong after all. ]

me? don't need much. i'm a simple skeleton of simple needs.
seeing a happy smile on my bro's face, knowin' frisk can do regular kid stuff like complain about homework.
i'd be content with ok.

[ Or just getting through the day. That works too. ]

[ His next reply is quick, abbreviated in comparison: ]

...no follow up questions?

geez, i must be losing my touch.

count on me to leave a thing half-finished, c'mon.
tori still wants to teach kids and, y'know? that's a beats out the ruins.
then there's her kids, and since you're here and all...

[personal profile] justribbing 2016-06-20 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
thought I'd stick to the kids that stuck around.
aiming too high sounds like work, let's keep it real simple.
think it's getting into the weeds a little?

[personal profile] justribbing 2016-06-20 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, you're right, better keep it to what we've got.
see, there's no question what might make my bro happy.
frisk's gonna take a little more guesswork.
tori? she'll enjoy running a school.
question is if that's the kinda life you wanna live. that whole 'not living' option? I ain't a fan.

[personal profile] justribbing 2016-06-20 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
guess I learned early on that I can't go comparing 'em with other people.
like my brother.

[ Or Chara.

Even if the two human kids seem every bit as lonely and abandoned as Papyrus was. Kids trying to make it in a world bigger than them, bigger and emptier, in heart if not in sheer space. ]

not really.
because it ain't about that anymore, kiddo.
pretty sure you want it to be over about as much as I do.

[personal profile] justribbing 2016-06-22 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
yeah? thought it might be more than one.

[ They're treading over more familiar ground, now, or he thinks. Never entirely safe to assume a damn thing, so the question, he thinks, is at least a step in a better direction.

Not the best one, but he doesn't have what it takes. ]

[personal profile] justribbing 2016-06-22 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
hell if i know. if school on the surface is anything like ours, they'll get to try a lotta stuff before they settle on anything.
what about you, kiddo?

[ He thinks back to another person's dream. Gardens and pictures on the walls. The occasions he spoke with the King and the times he didn't notice him slip through long-closed doors, giving himself an unofficial tour. ]

you sure like reading. drawing, too. right? or were those your brother's?

[personal profile] justribbing 2016-06-22 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ heyyyyy would you look at the time. ]
